K9 UK is a veteran owned business which provides specialist K9 equipment started by Darren Smith.  

His love of dogs started with family dogs as pets and working gun dogs.

Darren served with the British Army Bomb Disposal Regiment and spent several years engaged in counter terrorism activities which reignited his love for dogs having worked alongside military search dogs.  Having gone on to work a further 12 years in civilian bomb disposal he decided on a career change and trained as a private security dog handler.

Darren has worked with his search dogs alongside Prime Ministers, Royalty and A list celebrities whilst working at high profile events and government establishments.  Cooper and Bailey, his two search dogs, have rubbed shoulders with celebrities on numerous red carpet events.

He also works as a protection dog handler, alongisde his dog Xena, providing counter terrorism and public reassurance roles. Having owned and worked three dogs Darren soon realized he could improve a majority of the equipment on the market. Alongside his own expertise  and working with other handlers he started to produce pieces of equipment which were tested by himself and his fellow handlers who  provided great feedback.  Darren’s military background gives him the edge for attention to detail and being a current serving handler he is aware of the type of equipment that is required.  Now his equipment is being used by military police and private security dog handlers, as well as pet owners who require that harder wearing bespoke equipment.
